| Fabulous brush painting depiction, “Huang, Zhong-Tai’s painting exhibition” |

In order to promote aboriginal culture, Taipei Indigenous People Commission held the exhibition, “Fabulous brush painting depiction, “Huang, Zhong-Tai’s painting exhibition” from 2009.03.14 to 2009.04.26. A spectacular opening ceremony was taken place at 10:00, Saturday, March 14, at 1F, Taipei Ketagalan Culture Center, and the performance titled” Voice of aborigine, Dancing of brushing” which interprets the masterpieces of the exhibition was involved. This exhibition not only shows the beauty of aboriginal culture, but also arouses us to think about something when modern meets tradition and when west meets east. We also welcome the media to promote this fantastic exhibition.
This exhibition was the first one of the series of activities “Seven-Color Program- Fantastic Aboriginal Culture “held by Taipei Indigenous People Commission in 2009 and there are 37 pieces of paintings displayed. These works are of the characteristic of Chinese brush paintings; moreover, the painting subjects vary from rituals, music, dancing, and figures of all aborigines. The organizer divides these works into three main groups titled respectively ”Viewing rituals ”, “Watching Dancing ” and “Observing aborigines”. The most surprising work is the three-meter-long painting “Harvest Festival of Wujao tribe in Hualien” which presents the harvest festival of Amis and also let visitors have the feelings that they are just immersing in a joyous festival atmosphere.
Huang, Zhong-Tai’s mentor is Professor Li, Chi-Mao who is the international brush painting master. In order to show the unique of Taiwanese aboriginal culture on his works, Huang, Zhong-Tai integrated western sketch and eastern brush to present the beauty of Taiwanese aboriginal culture. This special arts atmosphere is different from the western paintings based on African primitive arts, Chinese palace paintings, Chinese brush paintings and Taiwanese modern abstract brush paintings.
Huang, Zhong-Tai’s traveling around Taiwanese tribes gave him lots of inspiration, and further contributed to this exhibition. The works are of sentimental realism and romantic symbolism, which reflects Huang, Zhong-Tai’s reminiscence and grasp of ancient ages of Taiwanese aborigines. Since he depicted aborigines realistically, the modeling of those figures is not only elegant but also quite closed to real-life and the expressions of those figures are vivid as well. These works focus on depicting the expression of figures, so no matter it is dynamic or static, Huang, Zhong-Tai still can show in an absolutely life-like way. He can present aborigines’ simple life and vigorous dancing in paintings.
“The three meters long brush painting is the first one in the world,” said by Professor Li, Chi-Mao at 10:00, Saturday, March 14, at the opening tea party, which made the audiences respond with warm acclaim and applause. After that, Huang, Zhong-Tai presented Director Yang with a painting. Professor Li expressed that the media often pays attention to foreign creations, and he hoped that from now on, the media could be concerned more about Taiwanese arts works. At the opening tea party, we can see Mr. Huang’s outstanding works, listen to his sharing the experiences in contact with aborigines and even participate in Mr. Huang’s professional tour guide, which would make visitors realize the creation background, appreciate brush paintings, analyze works from aesthetic angle, and be acquainted with beauty of aborigines.
The organizer held the opening tea party at 10:00, March 14, in Taipei Ketagalan Culture Center. There will be other related activities such as “Aesthetics class”, “Aborigines with inked faces”. Welcome all citizens and students who are interested in Chinese Brush paintings and aboriginal culture to enjoy these activities.
